Safe
Risk can never be eliminated, only understood and managed. The modern reading favours "Risk-Aware Consensual Kink" — naming the risks honestly rather than pretending they don't exist.
Sane
Sanity here means clear-headed decision-making: sober, present, and able to communicate. It is a state, not a judgement.
Consensual
Consent is enthusiastic, informed, specific, and revocable at any moment. A safeword is sacred. When it is spoken, everything stops — no questions, no negotiation.
The framework is not a cage. It is the trellis that lets trust grow.
